And We’re Back . . . Maybe?

Posted in Uncategorized on March 9th, 2010 by Neil Essig

The blog will be back soon. I’m currently in the middle of a whole bunch of projects, all of which are consuming my free time. You’ll get your art fix, soon, though. I’ve got a piece I painted for my parents, as well as a number of logo and print projects and a mobile site I’m working on for the Sportsplex. Anyway, coming soon . . .

Cat in the Window

Posted in Artwork on February 16th, 2010 by Neil Essig

I finally finished my first class at the Art Institute. The class was Drawing Fundamentals. My final project was a picture of a cat sitting in a window, looking out at the sad snow outside. Anyway, enjoy!

Zuma Beach
Saturday evening, I have a bit of spare time and I was in the mood for some painting. Kami and I went down to Hobby Lobby and picked up a canvas and supplies. I them painted this picture of Zuma Beach (Malibu). I think it turned out pretty good. The ocean certainly needs a little work but the colors are a lot more accurate than the last time I did a painting. Anyway, enjoy!

Blind Contour Drawing

contourdrawing-1
So I’ve started art school this week. I am taking some of my classes at the Art Institute in Draper (I know, long commute) and the remainder will be taken online. This is my first assignment in my Drawing Perspective class. I had to create a few blind contour drawings of my non-drawing hand (this is my right hand, just so you know). The aren’t pretty, but you’re not allowed to look at your work while you’re drawing, just your hand. Enjoy!

Smoot - Postcard 2009
Recently, I’ve been working with Smoot Real Estate to develop a few new marketing products for them. One product is a postcard they will be using to mail out to potential clients. The postcards are designed for both 5.5×8.5 and 4×6. The cards are easy to interchange with a different home and data, but the main look and concept will remain the same.

KN Essig - Blog
So Kami and I have our own family blog running. I’m sure you’re all shocked as to why I haven’t updated the template on the blog before now, but I finally got around to it over the weekend. I’m pretty sure it says “Kami” all over it. Anyway, let me know what you think! Enjoy!

Logan Soccer - Website 2009
This week, I created and published a new website called “Logan Soccer”. The website hosts information on upcoming leagues, tournaments and camps for soccer players of all ages in the Logan area. The site will also help to keep everyone updated on information regarding the status of the Ultimate Sports Arena. It will also be the portal for the Logan 6v6 Classic tournament. Enjoy!

Kim Phipps - Website 2009
I have finally completed work on a website for Kim Phipps. Kim Phipps is a real estate agent based in Logan, Utah. Her website is www.kimphippshomes.com. I registered her website, set up hosting, designed the site, and posted it online. The website runs on Wordpress software, which is free! Using wordpress, she can update her listings, write a blog, and post her own information online. The site is easy to maintain and requires almost no coding experience to manage. Enjoy!

I’ve been doing some clean-up work in my files and I ran across this picture. I took this picture about 2 years ago with a mediocre camera on my way to work one afternoon. I think it turned out quite good. Enjoy!

Against A Brick Wall 700
I know, I know. I have already posted this one. I actually did this piece back in December 2004, so its been a while, and most of you have probably not even seen it. Anyway, the reason I am reposting this one is because I am attaching a 1920 x 1080 download of the artwork, for your wallpapering pleasure. Enjoy!
